The resignation of Steve Nash, the Swanley Town Council Chief Executive, was announced on 22 October. No explanation was given for his sudden departure though it is understood he was in conflict with The Conservative Leadership Group on the Council. His leaving follows quickly on from the exit of Julie Pilbean, the previous Chief Executive, along with several finance officers too numerous to mention.
It is alleged that Steve Nash was in conflict with the Conservative Leadership over the management of concessions in Swanley Park. Councillors demanded recompense be awarded to one concessionaire who happened to be an ex-Conservative Councillor.
The leadership group of the council have been acting unlawfully by making decisions at private meetings with no public agenda or minutes produced. This was in breach of the S101 of Local government Act 1972. A view confirmed in the legal advice obtained from variety of national organisations including the National Association of Local Councils.
