Thank you to everyone who signed the petition to save Kent’s bus services.
Spearheaded by Labour County Councillors, and raised in Parliament by Canterbury Labour MP Rosie Duffield, the campaign stopped Tory County Councillors’ plans to axe 78 routes, including many serving our towns and villages in Sevenoaks District.
Labour County Councillor Barry Lewis told the Sevenoaks Chronicle, “This is a victory for the Chronicle’s campaign and for the Labour Party who got the issue raised in Parliament.” The Chronicle contributed no fewer than 17,000 signatures to the petition, which we have featured on our website.
This shows what community campaigning, backed by the Labour Party, can achieve.
