On Tuesday 11th April, at Maidstone Crown court, Robert Woodbridge who has stood against Labour in a series of Elections since 2015 both for the Greens and more recently the Liberal Democrats, appeared as a defendant. He has been charged with failing to inform the authorities of a change in circumstances in his benefit claims and after pleading not guilty, was bailed to appear for trial in September.
It is not surprising that Robert is no longer the candidate for the Liberal Democrats in the coming Kent County Council elections, being replaced by his close friend and associate, John Owen Jones, whose nomination papers were signed by Robert and his family.
Robert, a former Labour Party member, has fought a series of by elections recently representing the Greens and more recently the Liberal Democrats. In his campaigns and on social media sites, he has attempted to bring the honesty , integrity , commitment and ability of opponents into question. This has caused much distress to many of our members.
