With the White Oak council by-election on March 2nd, it’s an ideal time to publish a very appropriate poem by Keith George, a resident of White Oak who stood for the town council for Labour in 2015.
Keith has Parkinson’s and publishes poetry to increase awareness of the disease in the Facebook group “Parkinson’s Poetry and Parodies.” You can be sure Keith will be voting on March 2nd!
APATHY IS A TERRIBLE THING
AROUND OUR WORLD IT DOES SWING
IT IS OUR PLANETS MOST COMMON DISEASE
ALLOWING US TO BE CONTROLLED WITH EASE
MANY PEOPLE CAN’T BE BOTHERED TO GO THROUGH THE DOOR
AND CAST A VOTE OR ANYTHING THAT CAN GIVE LIFE MORE
THEN THEY MOAN ABOUT HOW LIFE IS COATED
“THAT’S YOUR FAULT MATE,SHOULD HAVE VOTED”
LOTS OF HELP FROM MANY FACTIONS THEY GET
IF ASKED FOR RETURN,“GOTTA TAKE MY DOG TO THE VET”
SO I ASK EACH ONE OF YOU GET OFF YOUR BUM
EVEN IF YOU NEED A FEW GLASSES OF RUM
THEN ALONG WITH ME AND ALL THE REST
FIGHT THIS STATE OF MIND, GIVING YOUR VERY BEST
UNITE EACH COUNTRY,CREED AND RACE
A BATTLE WITH THIS MONSTER WE MUST FACE
AS ONE LAND,ONE CREED,ONE RACE AND ONE FOR ALL
THEN TO EARTH’S MANY TYRANTS WE WILL NOT FALL.
