Julie Pilbeam the Town Clerk of Swanley Town Council has tendered her resignation with effect from 7th January, when she will take up a new post with another Council.
The Council is in the process of advertising and appointing her successor.
An appointment panel has been formed and will include myself as an opposition member. Many of you will recall that when Mrs Pilbeam was appointed, the opposition played no part in the selection process.
This resignation comes at a time when the Council is experiencing a number of difficulties, including staff unrest, a reduction in the range of services the Council is undertaking and a looming financial crisis facing Swanley Banqueting.
It is hoped that her successor, whoever it may be, will be able to tackle these problems and the face the changes that will come with the implementation of the Master Plan, efficiently and effectively and most of all for the benefit of the people of Swanley.
