Jeremy Corbyn gave an outstanding speech in the House of Commons opposing the renewal of Trident. He spoke after the new Prime Minister Teresa May had shocked the House when she declared without hesitation that she would order a nuclear strike to kill hundreds of thousands of people if she thought it was necessary.
The Prime Minister gave the stark reply during a parliamentary debate on the renewal of the Trident nuclear weapons programme.
Ms May was questioned by the SNP’s George Kerevan, who asked: “Are you prepared to authorise a nuclear strike that could kill hundreds of thousands of men, women and children?”
Ms May replied with one word: “Yes.” There were gasps in the House as she uttered the words. Would she be prepared to kill 500,00, 1,000,000, 5,000,000? More on her shocking statement PM Would Press the Button!
